We collect the following information when you use RentLekha:

• Phone number — used for OTP authentication and WhatsApp notifications
• Full name and email — for your profile and communication
• Property information — address, rent amount, tenancy details
• Payment records — rent payment history and receipts
• Usage data — how you interact with the Service

We use your information to:

• Provide and improve the RentLekha Service
• Send rent reminders and notifications via WhatsApp
• Generate HRA-valid rent receipts
• Communicate important updates about the Service
• Prevent fraud and ensure security

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these cases:

• Between owners and tenants — property owners can see their tenants' names and phone numbers. Tenants can see their landlord's name and contact.
• Service providers — we use Supabase (database), Twilio (WhatsApp/SMS), and Vercel (hosting). These providers have their own privacy policies.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law.

We take security seriously:

• All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
• Authentication is done via OTP — no passwords stored
• Database access is controlled via Row Level Security (RLS)
• We use Supabase which is SOC 2 Type II compliant

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

• Your personal profile is deleted within 30 days
• Payment records may be retained for 7 years for legal compliance
• You can request data export before deletion

We use Twilio's WhatsApp Business API to send:

• Tenant invite messages
• Rent reminders and overdue notices
• Payment confirmations

By using RentLekha, you consent to receive these WhatsApp messages. You can opt out by contacting us at support@rentlekha.in.

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your personal data
• Correction — update incorrect information in your profile
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and data
• Portability — export your data in a readable format

RentLekha is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
